6.59 Ranked among the top jobs for college graduates in the United States, the average salary for a full-time, part-time or casual associate professor in the US is $73,100, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
That’s a huge increase from the $49,700 median full-year salary for an associate professor at a large public university in 2010.
The average full- or part- time professor in 2017 earned an average of $51,800, according the BLS.
Meanwhile, the median full or part time assistant professor earned an estimated $47,300 in 2017.
The median annual salary for associate professors is $78,700 in the private sector, while the median annual wage for full- and part-timers is $72,400.
However, there are some exceptions to this.
A full- time associate professor earning the median wage for a public university is not eligible for federal student loan forgiveness.
That means he or she would be able to take out an additional loan to attend a school, but the Federal Student Aid Act does not allow a full time associate to take a federal student aid loan to cover tuition.
The Bureau of Economic Analysis reports that while the overall median annual income for a professor at the University of Texas at Austin is $84,200, the top 1 percent of income earners earn an average $9,000 more annually than a typical associate professor.
The median income for the top 0.1 percent of earners is $80,000.
That number also differs depending on how you define income.
The number of full–time and part time faculty in the U.S. has also been on a tear.
In 2016, there were 8,400 full-term professors in the entire U.N. In 2018, that number was 9,000 full-timer faculty.
The BLS also tracks average salary and the number of hours of work per week for full professors, as well as average salary by discipline.
The data shows the average full time salary for full time faculty increased from $61,000 in 2010 to $78 (in 2017 dollars) in 2018.
That includes a 25 percent increase for associate and associate professor positions.
That is a $3,400 increase over the previous year.
The top-paying full time positions are in engineering, and that includes all of the major fields.
The top-paid part time positions include teaching and administrative roles.
The salary data also includes part- and full-timer salaries, which are calculated by dividing the number in a full or full time job by the number working part time and full time jobs.
Full-time salaries in 2017 were $84.60 and parttime salaries were $83.80.
These two figures are for full and part times, not full and full.
Full time associate professors and assistant professors in 2017 made an average salary of $74,100.
In 2017, the gap between full and partial time and part and full full time was $26,700.
Full-time teaching assistants made an estimated median salary of just under $55,000, with a higher percentage of full time professors.
The BLS data also shows that half of fulltime teachers made less than $60,000 a year.
The full-Time Teaching Assistant Association has been advocating for a minimum wage increase for ten years.
The minimum wage for teaching assistants in the profession has remained at $9.50 an hour since 2013.
